School's Out For Summer
These words bring joy to millions of hearts
beating with the anticipation of 2 months of
freedom. And dread to millions of other hearts
wondering how to fill the hours of free time
with activity for their kids. Yikes! If a vacation
house or summer camp is not an option then a
little planning is in order. You can give your
kids a wonderful series of adventures by exploring
the family attractions of the New Jersey Skylands.
When
you get right down to it, your kids like the
same stuff you did... six guns, pirate ships,
wild animals and sandy beaches still work well.
And, with a little modern day tweaking, the age-old
themes come right up to speed.
These pages offer quick profiles and lead you
to maps and websites for each family attraction:

Farmers Markets
Day
and weekend trips in the summer Skylands can also be delicious,
with the rich harvests of our local farms available to
the savvy shopper at farmer's markets throughout our region.
With long days of blue skies and the summer harvest at
hand, here
is a menu, by day, of Summer Farmer's Markets
in the Skylands.
Sussex
County offers two fine markets. On Saturdays, housed in a
permanent building at the Sussex
County Fairgrounds in Augusta, farmers sell Jersey Fresh
products every Saturday from 9am to 2pm through November.
And on Sundays, you'll find special guests, music,
artisans and tastings throughout the season at the Olde
Lafayette Village Farmers Market.
